The Reservoir Runs Dry

Energy depleted, the flow stops. Lush creative abundance withers under some rock.

Pause. (phase shift)

The Beauty of Life:

Creation is always at work.

The engine of life, creation is both original and cyclical— consistently dynamic.

You can rely on creation to show you something new. In the same way, creation will not always show up as you expect.

Open yourself.

We effect, affect, receive, and are creation. It moves in all things, though in us not all at once and not always in the same way. For seasons we may originate less. I often get myself worked up about production — feeling I have fallen behind in acting upon the dreams within me or the epic possibilities in the world.

Here, I remind myself that my creative dance is not written until it is. There is no failing your dreams, there is only showing up to them.

When showing up is impossible — for lack of energy or want of a dream — I remind myself that I exist in world of dreams. The sunlight, snowfall, ferns, coffee, art, cats, loved ones and beyond are creation made manifest. Just be and breath in something awesome. Find some way to celebrate the creation you find — give a gift of heart to encourage.

We are not here to produce.

The [design of] economy misses the mark on this one.

We are here to steward the creation that has been given to us — to care for and support the hearts and dreams and whole ecology we find ourselves in. This stewardship is a lifestyle, coming mostly in the form of many many small and simple acts — “gifts” of a smile, connection, or word; a lift to the train station, a dollar (or ten) for the busker, your time and attention; giving deference to others, to the future.

I don’t think it takes much to build a generative world, to make resilient communities or economies with a heart. But, it does require of each of us to give early and often, many seemingly insignificant gifts.

Thank you to The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra for helping me to remember and be inspired by the beauty of this (creative) life. Thank you for the gifts of expression that you give.
